As the title states. My pureref file is around 210MB in size, when I start the program it uses over 1GB of RAM which seems excessive to me.

The .pur files contains compressed data which are unpacked when loaded so it is normal that the RAM usage is a lot higher when the file is loaded. This is something we want to try to improve in future versions of PureRef. Until then there's an option called "Zoom quality" that you can change to "Low" to decrease the RAM usage a bit.
