Do you mean that the buttons are physically broken or that they don't work in PureRef specifically?
We've recently released a beta version of PureRef 2.0 that has better support for tablets and a title bar that can be dragged to move the window, you can get it on the download page if you want to give it a go.
All align options should try to retain the order that the images are placed in in the scene. So if you first arrange by name, and then roughly place them in a line, and then run Distribute they should retain that order. Is that the case for you? We're looking into adding more align/arrange modes so we'll take your feedback into account for that if/when we get to it!
Thank you for the suggestion! We'll keep it in mind for future improvements.
When you say "add highlight events to undo/redo" do you mean like a popup that says what was undone?
@homemade_tttc: This is not really the place for those questions so if you have additional questions please make an appropriate topic or send us a contact message instead, but since we're here we'll try to answer:
Both v1 and v2 have no restrictions for personal / educational use and the terms are basically the same but we made it a bit more clear in the v2 license agreement. Check ou
There's a big range of different features mixed in this post, we'll try to clarify a bit:
Ctrl+Shift+Alt should only change the opacity of the selected images, not the background of PureRef itself.
There's 2 ways to make the background transparent:
- Changing the theme colors either manually or through a preset, salnomm probably enabled the Glass preset that is bound to Alt +
Haha we almost figured! It's such a huge help for us when trying to repro issues, but it doesn't seem to be intuitive to write all the steps so most don't unfortunately. Thanks again and keep it up if you find anything else :)
You can achieve that behavior now by locking the group with Alt+L but we're looking into how to make hierarchical selecting better. Do you know of any other applications that does it well for reference?
We're not sure we understand what you mean in the first section, would you mind explaining a bit more?
In PureRef 2.0 beta there's no limit on the image size but there's also no optimizations to handle that big images so the RAM usage might go crazy. What program do you normally use to inspect such huge image files?
After arranging you can press space to fit the selection in the view, but that of course just zooms in the view and doesn't actually scale the images.
Thanks for the feedback, we'll keep it in mind if we get to adding any such features in the future!
Currently the arrange functions use the shape of the PureRef window when arranging, so a workaround could be to first resize PureRef in the aspect ratio you want to arrange to.
If there was a specific feature to define an area/aspect ratio to arrange into, how would you expect that feature to work? Would you expect it to re-scale images to fit in the area or just use the aspect ratio as a guide
Is it because you accidentally double click on an image? In PureRef 2.0 beta there is a setting called "Double click image to focus" that you can disable to avoid this behavior, can you check if that helps? Unfortunately there's a small bug in the latest beta that makes panning with a tablet a bit jumpy sometimes which we'll have fixed in the next version.
We meant more like #1 yeah. If we get to adding bookmarks/pins/views they could also be searchable in the command palette but as you say would probably require some more UI to be managed.
Have you tried the Notes feature? You can create a note by pressing Ctrl + N. If you're running the PureRef 2.0 beta we've added rich text support so you can make a lot nicer notes as well.

The Move window binding takes precedence over all other bindings so you will have to re-bind or remove this one for it to work. You can find it under the System category in the keyboard shortcuts settings (at the bottom of the list), or just search for it in the top left corner of the settings window.
In PureRef 2.0 this happens under the hood (the image checksum is compared to existing ones when pasting so no data is copied) is this the main functionality you're all looking for or do you want a warning dialog for organizational purposes?
Thank you for the suggestion! This feature is pretty fresh so any feedback is much appreciated. Currently you can view comments in the tooltip of the items in the hierarchy, does that help for your use case? It's not copyable though unfortunately. We'll note your suggestion to add it to the coordinate picker and think about it a bit since that dialog already has a bit too much info in it
Glad to hear you found what you were looking for! We assume you were looking for the Note feature? Just in case anyone else finds this thread in the future its good to explain how you solved your issue :)
Thank you for the report! Unfortunately this is currently how it works, we'll try to look into making this better in future versions. The only way to change the embedded status of an image is to re-import it to the scene after changing the setting. In PureRef 2.0 you can at least see the linked status in the new Hierarchy view where any linked image should show a small link icon to the right
Thank you for the detailed feedback! We'll try to get most of this fixed for the next version. The behavior of the arrow keys during slideshow is not really intended but more a side effect of how it is implemented (they use the same functions). How would you expect it to work when randomize is enabled; always step in random order only as long as the slideshow is visible or remember the slides
Thank you for the suggestion! We've had an idea of adding this to the new command palette, basically making it an all in one search, what do you think about that idea?
Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the beta. Reading the error message it looks like there's nothing wrong with the save file, it's just that something goes wrong during loading. Does it work with other scenes? If so maybe you're running low on disk space on your C: drive?
Thank you for taking the time, we'll take a look! Yeah it seems to be a timing related issue so it can be really hard to repro as we've noticed... But again if you would be up for testing a dev build just let us know through the support form!
Thanks for the suggestion! Would you mind explaining a bit more how you would use it? Should it be limited somehow, like to the current group/parent or always be global?
