When I open a file (references.pur, e.g.), it opens the program and right after loading the pictures, it closes. I'm only able to open up the file properly with "Auto load last scene on start up" enabled and I open the program through its own icon.

Does this happen for all scenes or a specific one? In that case could you share that one? Does it also happen if you manually load or drag drop the scene into PureRef?

Happens to all 5 scenes I'm working with right now. Drag and drop on PureRef works fine. In fact, it seems to load faster than I've ever seen it load before when you do it this way.

Could you try this with the latest version, 1.10.1, and see if we managed to solve the issue?

Yeah that looks a bit odd, what OS and OS version are you on and could you share your config file so we can try to repro it?

I'm not sure what a config file is. If it's that configuration setting (.ini) thing then it's zipped on here along with my windows version:

Another question to narrow down the issue; do you have embedded or linked images in your scenes?

If that's where you can open the source of the images, then yes, almost all my images are like that--saved either from around the net or from images on my hard drive. Though I've got "Embed local images in save file:" disabled from the Settings.

We just released a new version, 1.10.2, could you please check if it helps? We found one issue at least but we're not completely sure it is related to this.

1.10.2 still crashes.

I noticed something with one of the files I've been opening though its icon: it seems to be having a problem loading one of the images before it crashes. The image it was trying to load was copied and pasted off another program (XnViewer).

Also, I kept opening files randomly and there are times when they would just open properly and not crash (the crash happens way more often, though). Sometimes the file opens properly right after I've just tried opening the same file and it crashed. Sometimes there are 2 bars loading, sometimes there's only 1 bar, and sometimes the bar isn't even showing up before the crash happens.

Hey, wanted to jump in and say im experiencing the same issue. Started with 1.10 but is still occurring in 1.10.2. After the file stopped opening i was able to open a backup that i had without issue, but now that backup file has also stopped opening. I am able to open other pureref files without issue. The initial broken file was all images that i had saved locally, but the backup had some that had been copy/pasted from online.

In both cases the file stopped opening after I added about 4-5 images that i had taken myself. These were a much higher resolution than the other images that i had saved from online sources, so im wondering if that is part of the issue? Happy to provide the files if that will help.

EDIT: oh and the file fails to open by dragging it into the window or by opening directly from file explorer

Bearplane: Thank you! We managed to repro your issue and we think we've also found a fix for it. Just to try to figure out what it was that went wrong initially: Did you by any chance create that save file with PureRef 1.9 and then resaved it with 1.10.0?

ahbeejieh: We're not sure though this was the same issue that you are experiencing, would you be up for testing a build with the fix to see if this was the case? In that case send us a message through the contact form :)

Yes i created it with 1.9

I have the same problem, but the file doesn't open any way, nor from load recent, neither from the browser, the further it went is show the loading bar, then crashed. All images were local on my pc, as far as i remember, and embed files is disabled. Some other files open fine.

We've just released a new version, 1.10.3, that should address the issues discussed in this thread. Please give it a go and let us know if you're still experiencing issues!
