Dear PureRef Team,

I have two suggestions regarding the "Crop" feature to improve visual feedback and file efficiency.

1. Visual Indicators for Cropped Images Currently, it’s hard to distinguish between an original image and a cropped one at a glance. It would be very helpful to have a visual cue when a cropped image is selected. Here are a few ideas:

Unique Selection Border: Use a different color for the selection line if the image is cropped.

Crop Icon: Display a small "Crop" icon near the selection frame.

Ghosting Effect: Show the hidden (cropped-out) areas as semi-transparent when the image is selected.

Select All Cropped: A function to "Select all cropped images" within the current scene.

2. "Apply Crop" Function (Permanent Crop) Sometimes I only need the cropped portion and don’t want the overhead of the full original image. I suggest an "Apply Crop" feature that:

Sets the currently cropped area as the new "original" image.

Discards the hidden pixels to optimize and reduce the file size (.pur).

This would be incredibly useful for managing memory and storage when working with many high-resolution images.

Thank you for your constant effort to make PureRef the best tool for artists.
Thank you for the suggestions! In the new Manage images dialog we've added options to "apply" cropping like you suggest in 2. Have you tried that?
Thank you for your previous response! While exploring the software, I found the features you mentioned.

However, I would like to suggest a few more improvements to enhance the user experience:

1. Interactive Confirmation for "C + Drag" (Crop)
Currently, when using the [C + Drag] shortcut to crop an image, the action happens instantly. I think it would be much more convenient if a small pop-up or dialogue appeared immediately after the drag, asking:

"Keep as cropped" (Maintain the current crop state)

"Apply/Flatten" (Confirm the crop)

This would be much more intuitive and faster than navigating through the "Manage Images" menu to finalize changes.

2. Visual Indicator for Cropped Images
As I mentioned in my previous message, it’s sometimes hard to tell which images have hidden (cropped) areas. It would be great if there was a small visual icon (e.g., a crop icon) in the top-right corner of an image whenever it contains cropped/hidden content. This would help users quickly identify which images can be "reset" or adjusted further.
Thanks for the suggestions! There's some technical issues with 1. but we'll keep it in mind as we improve the cropping. For 2. there is a visual indicator in the Hierarchy on images that are cropped, is that good enough for your case?
Sorry, we mixed it up a bit with the downscaling indicator, there's not currently one for cropped images... but if there was, would that help?
