Comprehensive Suggestions and Visions

1. Everything as Ref: I hope it would be possible to insert everything into PureRef, such as videos (VFX references, animation references), Markdown text (more readable detailed notes), renderable HTML pages, shader code snippet previews similar to Shadertoy, and interactive 3D model and animation previews similar to Sketchfab.

2. Text-format .pur files: Using UTF-8 encoded text format files for easier version control and diff comparison (did I accidentally delete some references, and which ones?), and also convenient for searching files by searching file content. You can refer to Obsidian and DrawIO (what I love most about DrawIO is that I can search for text within files and use a single keyword to find a file I had forgotten about for years).

3. Tabs: Allow opening multiple tabs within a single file for easier management and preview of large amounts of references. You can refer to the tab systems in Chrome, Excel, and DrawIO.

4. More universal default shortcuts: For example, Ctrl+N means "New" in most software. We could define adding notes as adding text, with shortcut Ctrl+T, etc. Of course, this suggestion is quite subjective. If you insist on keeping things as they are, perhaps there could be a more comprehensive shortcut editing feature.

5. Localization: Multi-language support can be open-sourced as language packs, allowing users to maintain them with official participation and guidance, reducing development and maintenance costs.

6. Navigation window/Overview window: Similar to a minimap in games, it can float semi-transparently in a corner of the interface, showing users which part of the reference collection they are currently focusing on, and allowing quick jumps to specific reference sections by clicking on the navigation window.

Wishing PureRef gets better and better.

Thank you for the suggestions! We'll keep it in mind as we continue improving PureRef. Some notes/questions:

1. PureRef is not a browser based application so we don't get a lot for free in this regard, and as we've always tried to focus on specifically reference images we'll probably only consider adding support for content related to this (mainly video support is a heavily requested feature). But this and collaborative editing are the 2 big features that we're considering.

4. We appreciate the feedback and are keeping this in mind for future changes. Changing shortcuts is not popular but we'll see what we can do. When you say "more comprehensive shortcut editing feature" what do you feel is missing from the current one specifically?

5. A first version of translations are available for testing in the recently released beta version of PureRef 2.1.0. Is there any specific language you're interested in?

For the other points we've noted your request.
