I want this feature because

I don't like having to take high-resolution images that I use as references,
switch to other programs to reduce their resolution,
and then re-import them back into Pureref again.

Thanks for the suggestion! We're working on a feature to do this for an upcoming version of PureRef, so keep an eye out for updates. What exactly do you mean by "without losing quality"? We see reducing the resolution as a reduction of quality, but maybe you're thinking of keeping the same format or not compressing too much?
