Thanks for the suggestion! You can achieve this currently if you open the Slideshow, then change the step mode to Random. Stepping with the arrows should now step randomly even if the slideshow is paused. Unfortunately you currently have to keep the slideshow open for it to work, but you can set the Fade mode to All and it will fade out completely when PureRef is inactive.
