I recently downloaded the latest update and am enjoying the new gizmo tool for enhanced control over cropping. However, I'm accustomed to similar features in other photo apps, where I can lock the crop shape into a perfect square by holding down a modifier key or selecting a preset aspect ratio that remains fixed for uniformity.

I would like to propose adding an 'aspect ratio preset' feature to PureRef. This would enable users to easily crop images into locked dimensions, such as perfect squares, which would help organize images more efficiently on the board. Currently, the Shift and Ctrl keys only prevent the cropping tool from moving further, which seems like a missed opportunity for additional functionality. If this is an intended function or a bug, please let me know.

Thank you for the suggestion! There's definitely room for improvement in this regard. Would you mind elaborating a bit how you would imagine it working? What kind of UI would you expect where you can select aspect presets? Is there some way it could be done to make sense if there wasn't any presets to chose from as a first step?

For the UI, I envision a small pop-up context menu appearing above or near the selection, offering a list of aspect ratio presets. This would work similarly to the context menus in platforms like Miro when selecting objects, or the cropping mode on iPhones.

If adding a dedicated UI isn’t feasible, perhaps a combination of modifier keys during cropping could achieve the same effect—for example, a feature like Photoshop’s Shift+Alt+LMB for constrained transformations.

Currently, I manually crop images using the Windows photo viewer with locked ratios before importing them into PureRef for a cleaner layout. Having this feature within PureRef would save a lot of time. Thanks again for considering this suggestion.

Thank you for the examples! It is of course possible to add a UI for it but it is more work and requires consideration, while the modifiers can be quickly added so it might be a good first step at least.
