Topic: Contextual Shortcut Status Bar/Overlay, Enter Text With Esc
Hi guys, I love PureRef and especially that you make everything keyboard and mouse shortcut accessible to create interface zen a bit like VI.
There are a good few things that fall in the zone where I would use them more if I could remember the short cuts and not quite often enough to remember the shortcuts :D
Have you considered adding an overlay at the bottom of the screen that shows contextual shortcuts? For example if you press c it could say "left drag to crop current selection" or v it could say "pan cropping". If left click and hold on an image it could say "ctrl+alt: resize, alt: rotate, d: dimensions, v:crop" and so on.
Examples:
Photoshop (current tool modifiers appear in info panel): http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/files/2015/11/11_05Info.jpg
3D Coat Help Overlay (bottom of viewport, contextual and can be turned off):

You could easily have it so it doesn't show if you haven't got your mouse over the canvas, so it doesn't get in the way of viewing your reference.
ENTERING TEXT:
I couldn't find how to enter text. The ways I'm used to in stuff like Photoshop/Flash is either escape key or numpad Enter, neither of which work. Is there a way to finish a note without using mouse to click outside it? If not it would be neat if we could use escape like photoshop uses nowadays ( i use pure ref when i'm concepting in PS mainly ).
Thanks guys!
Yes, we have considered adding such a feature and it is something that might come in future versions of PureRef but it is great to hear your opinions about it and see some examples.
We will also look into adding an easier way to finish editing a note!
Thank you for the great suggestions!
The latest version of PureRef, 1.9.0, allows finishing text editing by pressing escape.
