- Support panning and zooming with trackpad gestures.
I love it- kinda. Before I always felt forced to connect a mouse to my laptop to use PureRef comfortably but this feature makes it much easier to pan over the canvas without relying on the mouse. The gestures feel responsive and natural. My complaint is in its sensitivity - it feels too slow when panning. I feel like it should move twice (or even thrice) the amount with one "swipe".

Big thanks for this one.
- Drawing: Hold shift to draw straight lines.
Awesome update too! I usually use PureRef to look at references when drawing, so being able to quickly add straight lines to check for the proportions is so useful! It works very well too. Eventually, this feature could be improved further by allowing to draw straight lines in other commonly used angles like 45°, 30° and, 60°. But for now, vertical and horizontal lines are more than enough! Thanks!

Now for a suggestion:
I think that there should be an option for Notes and Drawings to be always in front of images. For example, with the new feature to draw straight lines, I keep accidentally bringing the image I'm drawing on to the front - basically hiding the drawing behind the image. And the same thing goes for text, I avoid overlapping notes on images because with one wrong click that note will be forgotten behind the image.
I know that there is a "Bring Selected Images to Front" but I like having that option turned on as it works very well when I'm organizing images.
I don't really see the point of ever having text/drawing behind images so I would like for the "Bring Selected Images to Front" to actually only apply to images. To be more precise, I think all drawings should be on top of everything, followed by all notes and then all images.
And that's it! Thanks again for this amazing update!
Glad to hear you like it! What kind of track pad are you using? Just so we can see if there's something wrong with the specific one. We've basically tried to make the sensitivity similar to other similar apps. For example if you use the track pad to scroll in chrome, does that one feel faster or slower?
Drawings use the same parenting rules as notes, which means that when you start drawing it will be parented to the currently selected image. Parented items are always shown above their parent. We know this is not super intuitive and are looking into how to make it more clear. You can also change the parenting manually by drag drop in the hierarchy view afterwards in case you want to change it. You can read more here: https://www.pureref.com/handbook/2.0/features/#attachparent-note-to-imagenote
Thank you for the suggestions!
I'm using my laptop's touchpad - It's a Omen16 if that makes any difference.
I meant to record the screen but the tool I use to record isn't working for some reason... :(
I went to Google and took a bunch of screenshots and put them together in PureRef to simulate a page from Chrome to compare the panning.
I made sure there were no variables that would influence the results (so, same zoom-level on PureRef and Chrome, same movement (fingers) when panning the page/board, doing multiple repetitions, etc)
It's really hard to explain with words, but when doing the exact same movement to scroll down, I can travel basically twice the distance on Chrome compared to PureRef.
Here's an attempt at illustrating the results:
https://i.imgur.com/6TjD0QD.png (yellow thing shows the distance traveled)
https://i.imgur.com/fRV9Ivc.png (green is before the scroll - cyan is after the scroll - on PureRef one full swipe down isn't enough to scroll one "screen" unit down)
On PureRef, one full swipe down allows to scroll until a Twitter post, while on Chrome one full swipe allows me to scroll up until the "related searches" of the page.

Also, thanks for linking that handbook page. It's not very intuitive but does work. I'll keep that in mind when writing notes or drawings.
Thank you for taking the time to look into it! We'll take a look and see if we can figure out what's different and if there's anything we can do to fix it :)
Just wanted to point out that as of Version 2.0.0.beta8 the panning speed when using the touchpad has been fixed. It matches (I think) the same speed as Chrome or other apps.
It wasn't mentioned in the changelog but it's been fixed. Thanks again for the quick updates!
Glad to hear it! We did indeed tweak it a bit based on the input but forgot to put it in the changelog :)

I completely agree with this. Drawings are great but they should most likely be in front. Even if they are in a group, there should be an option to maybe be able to auto stack them to the top of the group. I always accidentally move something and the drawing is suddenly behind the image and I don't intend for that. Perhaps a check box that "auto fronts" drawings and notes.
Great addition though
