Hi,
I have a feature request which I think could be useful.
''Image Groups''
There are two possible options. A functional colour box, or a none functional colour box. The box will always sit 'behind' any images.
If it's going to be functional as a 'group' box, then it can be created from menu, or by selecting an image or images, and hitting ctrl+g. This will create a box around the outside of all images and group the images together. Users can edit the group box colour and opacity in the same way they can notes. Perhaps the group also is created with a random or semi random number of colours.
Moving any other image into the colour space of the box, will move the image into the group, and moving it out of the colour space moves it out of the group. The same applies if multiple images are selected and dragged in or out.
The background colour box should resize automatically to match the 'space' the images in the group take up, adding new ones will enlarge the group box, removing, shrink it (obviously).
If you click select anywhere in the colour space only, and move it or drag it or resize it etc (like a normal image) it will also move and resize all the images in the group to fit relative to the resize of the group colour box. This way, people can move entire groups and it's contents whereever they like on the canvas.
If somebody wishes to delete the group, they can just click a colour area of the group, and delete. It won't delete the images in the group, only the colour box. If they press alt and delete, it will delete the group box AND the images inside of it.
If they wish to select ALL images in a group, perhaps they can click shift and click within the colour area of the group box, and it selects all images inside the group. From there users can then move the images outside the group, or even drag into another group. The group will still remain once images are moved out of it, or perhaps it can be automatically deleted. If the user wishes to drag and select images within a group, it will automatically ONLY select the images that were covered, and won't include the group box into the selection. This is so users can just drag select and move images inside the group freely without it moving the group box itself (for reorganising positions inside the group box, or for drag selecting images to move out of the group). However, let's say, they want to move multiple groups and the images inside the groups at once. Then perhaps a shift click and drag will select the images AND the group boxes within the selection. That way they can shift click and drag over multiple groups and images and then move them all as one entity.
Or something like that, shortcuts can obviously be whatever.
Here is an image of what it could look like. This was a manual resize option with no 'group' function. If it were automatic and had a 'group' function, the box wouldn't be so random around the outside of the images. https://prnt.sc/ut90fz
However, even something simple like this even, without an actual 'group' function like above will still be useful... it doesn't have to be complicated. Again, the background colour and opacity could work similar to the way the 'Note' BG colour picker works. Just having a colour box which you can resize and move would be good enough anyway, as it will help people organise different reference images into different areas of the canvas and be more visually appealing and quicker to notice when zoomed out.
You already kind of have the feature, if you create a note, but delete the text; except resizing it can only be vertical. What I'd like is to be able to resize it in anyway, and just be a box with no text.
Images just for showcase purposes.
If you really want to get fancy, then perhaps the groups can have a custom title too, which acts like an embedded note or something.
