An action that groups the current active selection. This action would live under the Selection actions context menu, and would be accompanied by the Ctrl+G hotkey. This would group the items together, and would treat the group of items as a single item - potentially so you can have a hierarchy of groups within groups, so that the user could manage "collections of images within a collection" a lot easier. Maybe you could later implement "group titles" as well, but simple grouping would be a huge addition.

Thanks for the suggestion and the images. Grouping is something that's on our to-do list and there's a couple of threads here on the forum already on it that you might want to check out to see if those ideas aligns with how you imagine it should work.
We've just released a beta of PureRef 2.0 that adds support for grouping selections of images. You can download it on the download page if you want to give it a go! You can read more about the feature here: https://pureref.com/handbook/2.0/features/#groups
Hi,
thank you for the feature!
Is it possible you guys implement some settings for groups, like for example modifying the default margin and padding for the group box?
As of now there is a default padding which i would like to change to have lets say more space surrounding my elements inside the group.
Also naming a Group would be quite handy. Maybe by right clicking the group in the hirarchy to rename it?
Cheers
Alex
We'll for sure look at improving grouping in the future as well so thank you for sharing your thoughts. We'll probably not add that much new stuff before the 2.0 release but just keep sharing if you have any other suggestions.
using the group topic - groups and this very topic made me check 2.0 beta
although the groups didn't seem to work as I wanted them too ;) the feature I needed the most was to move around images as one, right now to do that you need to manually lock all the single images, so the mouse reacts to group only
suggention - can ctrl+g automatically lock all the group contents?
additional suggestion - in such setup editting groups could work not by unlocking single items, but getting "iside" the group (I believe that's how it works in illustrator) > you'd double click the group (or some other shortcut) and then all the insides of the group are editible, but the group itself and anything outside is not, then you can ecs or sth and again group is again working as a singular item
dunno if that mechanism would not make it too heavy for the software, but would for example allow avoiding all the ui around groups (bucket and lock that appears now over locked items)
Thank you for the feedback! We're looking into making this more streamlined and will probably look at a solution like what you describe, some kind of contextual selection mode on double click seems to be most common. If anyone else has ideas and opinions, or if someone likes it the way it currently is, we're always happy to hear them!
We've just released 2.0.0.beta9 with the above discussed changes; double click to "enter" a group. Please let us know if it works as you would expect!
thank you, perfect! a lot of good tweaks and fixes!
