Focus Canvas is such a great command. But when you've already got hundreds of references, it zooms out the whole canvas showing everything making you lose footing on where you were in it.

I would like to suggest a "half-step" version of this where it zooms out just a bit enough for you to see more images from your point of origin. Maybe there can be a setting where you can control how much it actually zooms out.

Suggested shortcut: since Focus Canvas is CTRL+Spacebar, maybe this can be SHFT+Spacebar.

Shift+Space is currently in use for snapped move but maybe Ctrl+Shift+Space would work? We'll see what we can do for future versions!
