Hello,
I am a new user and this is my unsolicited feedback. I am a designer as well as a photographer and I know that feedback is important to improve.
As I said, this is a gut feeling because I haven't explored the full software yet, but overall I am very impressed.

I was looking for an endless canvas to think about how to organise my images. Using exclusively Linux and opensource software I was looking for something that would work on this platform and came across pureref by pure chance (pardon the joke).

My main use case is very simple. I take photos, edit them and just like in the old days put them on my table, moving back and forth to try and create a story to put in a photo book. I would like to recreate this experience.

Being used to using Figma, the first feeling was to reuse the same shortcuts. I had to refer to the documentation and little by little I started to use them even though some are really complicated like Ctrl Alt Shift Up to distribute. Another habit of Figma is that by selecting an object you can move the object with the cursor keys according to the pixels defined by the grid.

Alignment of images, should be possible by assigning specific padding to leave a space between images.

When working with images it sometimes happens that you want to add a border to highlight certain images. This could be a function such as crop, which I have seen present. Crop should be able to offer a number of predefined crops e.g. 1x1 square 3:2 etc .

Finally, one of the reasons for using pureref is that I use LaTeX to make my photobooks. I organise the images in folders/chapters and then with some scripts I sketch out the code from the order of the images. I would like to use pureref to organise my pictures into sequences and/or chapters which I can then rename.
With pureref I have seen that it is possible to rename images but this is only done within the pureref file.
Finally I'm a big fan of Qt and to see it being used so well in pureref is great.
That's all for now, I hope to be able to use it more and give more feedback.

PS. Regarding the forum I don't know why my email is displayed and not the nick but it's not possible to change it from the profile.

Edit: I found the export functionality with the option to rename with a number. <3

Edit2: Just to let you know that Pureref has been advertised by an famous italian Youtuber on recent video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KH-dhALkUo

Thank you for the feedback! We're always happy to hear first impressions and how you use PureRef.

PureRef is a bit more focused on the viewing rather than editing as opposed to Figma but we're for sure going to look into adding some kind of snapping in a future version. You can always rebind shortcuts in settings to fit better with your workflow, although we don't have actions for nudging items yet.

If you want to create an outline for images you could use a group for this that you can set the background color of.

Glad to hear you found the export feature :)
